St Mochtas FC
About
St.Mochta’s FC was founded in 1949 and has been competing at local and national level since that time. The schoolboy/girl section was started in the early 1960’s. The Club has enjoyed great success over the years and has produced many fine individuals at professional level including current players Mark Kennedy (Ipswich Town, ex Cardiff City, Liverpool, Wolves, Man City & Milwall), Glenn Crowe ( ex Bohemians, Wolves), Stephen Paisley (ex Man City & Falkirk).
St.Mochta’s is a community based club staffed and run by local volunteers, all of whom are experienced ex-players and coaches. Similarly our players are locally based and while all players are welcome our proactive recruitment policy, unlike many other clubs, is to stay local. Our strength is our roots in the greater Clonsilla and Dublin 15 area and in ensuring local children benefit.
We believe that the foundations of the club are at schoolboy/girl level and we place most of our resources into the development of young players. Our Academy runs every Saturday morning (except for months of July & August). Here we develop the basic skills of football (passing, dribbling, teamwork and spatial awareness) under the direction of our Academy Director, Brendan Kennedy (UEFA B qualified coach). We then move the children on into teams to compete for the club at all grades between U8 and U18.
At St.Mochta’s FC we place great importance on using the most modern coaching methods and therefore we insist that all of our coaches attend regular courses administered by the Football Association of Ireland (FAI). Our coaches are therefore FAI qualified and the children receive the best possible coaching.
Since 2006 when the club was fielding just 2 senior and 3 schoolboy/girl teams we have built a strong and growing institution boasting a healthy academy of 55 children form 4 to 6 years old, 3 senior teams and 13 junior teams. Next season we would hope to have an academy of 70 children, 3 senior teams and 17 junior teams. This expansion in both playing and coaching staff requires investment in both infrastructure (e.g. All weather facilities) and ancillary equipment such as goals, rainwear, shirts, shorts, balls etc. If you are interested in becoming a club sponsor then please contact any of our club officers to discuss your options.
