The Saints played against the strong wind in the first half. Jarod Flynn opened the scoring on 16 minutes to score his first goal of the season with a smashing strike from the right hand side. The Saints were dominating the early exchanges and applying pressure from all areas of the pitch. The Ballybrack goalkeeper was very busy and he produced some excellent saves. On 33 minutes it was 2-0 when Aaron O' Brien slotted the ball in to the back of the net after some excellent play by Jonathan Lyons and Mark Sheridan. Ballybrack's opening chance arrived on 42 minutes. Saints goalkeeper James Sheridan made a fine save from a low powerful drive.
The Saints continued to dominate in the second half, Nico Moutou linked up well with Sean Gilbert who dribbled passed five players and chipped the goalkeeper to make it 3-0 on 55 minutes. Sean had an excellent debut and certainly made his mark with an outstanding performance. Derek Rochford in the middle of the park broke down every attack with his superb tackling and determination. Wayne Fay came off the bench to replace John O Leary on 70 minutes, John had an excellent game, ran all night and held the ball up well.
Mark Sheridan’s fantastic chip into the box from a set piece found Fay who scored from his first touch of the ball with a volley into the back of the net. The classy Saints goal brought huge cheers from the travelling away fans. Ballybrack came into the game with fifteen minutes remaining forcing James Sheridan to tip a powerful shot over the crossbar. Centre half James McElvaney was solid winning every tackle and header in difficult stormy conditions. On 79 minutes Wayne Fay made it 5 -0 with a composed finish into the bottom corner of the net to score his second of the game.Two shots and two goals from Fay brings his tally to five goals this season. The home side scored two consolation goals late in the game.
Vice captain Richard Lyons took the armband and led the team to 3 points while captain Dave Bellew was away. Even from Brazil club man Bellew kept a close eye on the game and kept all followers updated of the games events. The Saints now sit on top of the league with 21 points and have two games in hand over Cherryfield who are in second place.
