Gareth Cooney opened the scoring in the fifteenth minute with a header from Ross Carrig's delivery. The goal capping a wonderful move involving Bryan Fitzpatrick and Karl Somers. Taghg Murphy was back in goal after missing Sunday's game with Malahide through injury. Murphy's made a good save on 36 minutes with a block at the back post.
It was a fast - paced and engaging first half encounter, although the Saints created the better chances and posed more of a threat. Ross Carrig went close on the stroke of half time, stealing in at the back post from O' Reilly's corner the Glebe North goalkeeper was relived to make a comfortable save from Carrig's side footed shot.
Two minutes after the restart Glebe North spurned a fantastic opportunity to equalise. Murphy could do little as the strikers effort flew past the post. David Somers made it 2-0 on 55 minutes after Denis Moran sliced open Glebe's defence with a diagonal ball to Somers who slotted the ball home to score his eight goal of the season. Somers went close to scoring his second on the hour mark, Bryan Fitzpatrick went on a terrific run and found Somers who dragged his shot wide. Lee Dixon was introduced on 66 minutes and he was unlucky not to score a minute later with a curling shot that went agonisingly wide.
Glebe North pulled a goal back on 84 minutes when Murphy made a good reflex save, the Saints goalkeeper was unlucky when the ball fell for Ken Costello who made no mistake and found the back of the net. The home side applied pressure in search of the equaliser. Saints captain Craig Sheridan won some vital headers and interceptions as the home side threw everything at the Saints. Deep into injury time Lee Dixon secured the three points. Karl Somers who was outstanding won the ball and set Dixon free, Lee displayed great composure to slot the ball home and seal the win.
