Costello Cup Semi Final.

Conditions were difficult for both sides, but it was the Saints who settled first with Mason Edojah opening the scoring with a superb finish into the back of the net. St. Ita's were soon in big trouble when Lawrence Kallo and Conor Pownall made it 3-0 just before the half time break. The Saints were playing with plenty of confidence and always posed a threat going forward.
The response after the break, from the home side was excellent and they threw caution to the wind, and they pulled two goals back to make it a very nervy second half. Urged on by great support from both clubs, it was a brilliant cup semi final. Both sides were attacking and creating chances and the next goal would be so important. The next goal arrived and it was Mason who scored his second goal of the game with a tidy finish to give the Saints some breathing space. Credit to St. Ita's they never let their heads drop, but it was all over when James Padden scored the Saints final goal of the game with a terrific finish to seal the win.
Both sides deserve huge credit, it was a very entertaining semi final in very poor conditions. St. Ita's can be very proud of their second half performance after going into the half time break 3-0 down. The day belonged to St. Mochta's and it was a real team performance which ensures the team a place in the Costello Cup Final.
