Karl and David Somers returned to the side after missing last weeks game due to family commitments. The brothers were outstanding, a constant threat and very creative they must be a nightmare to play against and when you add the magnificent work rate you have two fantastically gifted players. The Saints defended extremely well with Craig Sheridan and Nathan Brown immense in the heart of the back four. Brian Fitzpatrick and Gavin Smith the two full backs got forward and delivered some dangerous crosses. The Saints didn't have it all their own way and it was a very good contest. Saints goalkeeper Warren Fee tipped a good free kick over the crossbar in the 10th minute and the Glenville goalkeeper Paddy Murphy made a fine save to deny Karl Somers as he tried to round him from a tight angle.
Lancaster had a volley saved just after half time, David Somers flick to create it was terrific. Glenville keeper Paddy Murphy made an unbelievable save in the 63rd minute when he kept out a David Somers powerful drive. The game was finely balanced and Glenville had a good spell of pressure midway thorough the second half, the next goal was so important and it arrived in the 73rd minute when Crowe's half volley flew past Murphy into the back of net. Crowe pounced inside the penalty area after a free kick was cleared and he made no mistake with an emphatic finish.
Three minutes later it was all over when David Somers scored one the finest goals ever scored in Porterstown road, beautiful one touch football that started in the Saints half, the ball was moved with pace and the movement was exceptional, when Crowe was found by Deegan his inch perfect touch opened up the defence and David Somers finished in style to score his eight league goal of the season. It was a goal of the highest quality and one that will live long in the memory.
