LSL Division 1
The Saints started very well and took the lead in the 7th minute when David Somers found the back of the net with a great finish after Lancaster's sublime through ball opened up the Hearts defence. It was the perfect start and a superb goal .The Saints had the best of the first half with Lyons, David Somers and Lancaster all going close to making it two. The best chance of the half for the home side came when Fee was forced into making a great save with his feet in the 22nd minute. Dean Thomas was very impressive in the first half and he linked up well with Lyons, although he tired late in the second half, he will certainly get better. Gary Wilson was excellent and he delivered some beautiful crosses into the penalty area. He defended very well and looked to get forward with Smith on the opposite side.
After the break the Hearts goalkeeper made two fantastic saves, first he denied Lyons and then in the same passage of play he parried away Thomas's good strike. Sacred Heart started to apply some good pressure, and the away side always posed a threat on the break. Harrison and Craig Sheridan defended extremely well as the home side started to commit more bodies into the penalty area. Reilly came close in the 66th minute but was denied by the goalkeeper who raced out quickly. Two minutes later Lancaster hit the post from a shot just outside the penalty area. Hearts kept searching for the equaliser and it came courtesy of Fulham who smashed the ball home with two minutes remaining.
It's always disappointing to concede so late in the game. A second goal would have probably won it but Sacred Heart deserved a point. It's a point on the board and any point away from home is a good point.
